{"id":38501,"date":"2026-09-13T22:03:10","date_gmt":"2026-09-13T20:03:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rhinosd.net\/?p=38501"},"modified":"2026-09-13T22:03:10","modified_gmt":"2026-09-13T20:03:10","slug":"teachers-committee-condemns-security-cells-arrest-of-a-teacher-in-north-kordofan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rhinosd.net\/?p=38501&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"Teachers\u2019 Committee Condemns Security Cell\u2019s Arrest of a Teacher in North Kordofan"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Rhino: Follow-up \u2013 The Sudanese Teachers\u2019 Committee condemned the arrest of Mr. Ali al-Zubair by the security unit in North Kordofan State and his removal from his home last Wednesday to the security unit\u2019s headquarters\u2014an act that violates the most basic human rights, freedom of expression, and the right to demand one\u2019s rights.<\/span><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">In a statement, the committee suggested that Al-Zubair\u2019s arrest was linked to his activism and demands for teachers\u2019 rights, foremost among which are the payment of arrears, the implementation of decisions and circulars regarding the improvement of teachers\u2019 working conditions, and an end to North Kordofan State\u2019s procrastination in fulfilling these entitlements.<\/span><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">The statement read: \u201cWe condemn this behavior and warn the authorities against using censorship and arrest as a means to silence the voices of teachers, rather than addressing the real problems they face, foremost among which are low wages, the accumulation of arrears, and the suspension of decisions and financial entitlements.\u201d<\/span><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">The statement added: \u201cThe arrest of a teacher demanding the rights of his colleagues does not nullify those rights, nor does it resolve the crisis; rather, it adds another crisis related to freedoms and the right to organize, express oneself, and demand legitimate rights<\/span><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">.<\/span><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">The statement held the security authorities in North Kordofan State fully responsible for the safety of Mr. Ali al-Zubair and demanded his immediate and unconditional release, disclosure of the reasons for his arrest and his place of detention, and a guarantee that he will not be subjected to any violations.<\/span><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">The statement called on human rights activists, trade unionists, civil society organizations, and all forces advocating for rights and freedoms to stand in solidarity with Mr. Ali al-Zubair and to launch a broad campaign demanding his release, given that his arrest was motivated by his advocacy for the rights of his fellow teachers.
