{"id":37234,"date":"2026-08-05T19:15:51","date_gmt":"2026-08-05T17:15:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rhinosd.net\/?p=37234"},"modified":"2026-08-05T19:15:51","modified_gmt":"2026-08-05T17:15:51","slug":"establishment-of-a-broad-african-human-rights-coalition-to-support-peace-in-sudan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rhinosd.net\/?p=37234&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"Establishment of a Broad African Human Rights Coalition to Support Peace in Sudan"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Rhino: Agencies<\/span><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">The expert workshop on civil society advocacy regarding Sudan, which concluded its proceedings on Wednesday in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi, announced the establishment of a broad African human rights coalition named \u201cSudan Coalition,\u201d with the aim of developing a more effective strategy for civil society organizations in the field of political advocacy, in support of reaching a peaceful resolution to the conflict and backing initiatives aimed at achieving this, particularly the Quartet and Quintet initiatives.<\/span><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">The workshop, which began last Monday, was attended by a select group of Africa\u2019s leading human rights defenders, along with <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">representatives of the most prominent African civil society organizations.<\/span><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">The workshop was organized by the African Center for Democracy and Human Rights Studies and the Center for Justice and Accountability in Africa (CEJA)\u2014both of which hold consultative status with the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva\u2014along with the Sudan Knowledge Center in Geneva.
