The report warned of the growing phenomenon of \u201cmilitia recruitment\u201d and systematic extremism pursued by the current army leadership, highlighting the danger of the international community\u2019s silence in the face of the Islamic Movement\u2019s acts of terrorism and intimidation against Sudanese civilians, which threaten to dismantle the social fabric and drag the country into a dark abyss of chaos.<\/span><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">The meeting also addressed the issue of the \u201cSudanese Doctors\u2019 Network\u201d and the army commander-in-chief\u2019s admission that he used doctors as a cover for military intelligence, thereby undermining the ethical values of the medical profession; the European official expressed her deep regret and condemnation of the Sudanese army\u2019s exploitation of medical unions and personnel and their involvement in military operations in violation of humanitarian laws and conventions.<\/span><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">The participants also discussed the deteriorating conditions in areas under the control of the Rapid Support Forces, and the coalition delegation highlighted the absence of public prosecutors, the collapse of educational institutions, and the denial of citizens\u2019 basic constitutional rights. In this regard, Ms. Katarina Tabio revealed that the European Union has allocated funds to support education and alternative education initiatives in Sudan through UNICEF.<\/span><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Regarding monitoring and accountability mechanisms, the coalition delegation emphasized the necessity for the UN Fact-Finding Mission to conduct direct field visits on the ground and interview victims and witnesses to ensure the highest level of credibility in its reports, a position with which the European diplomat expressed full agreement.<\/span><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">At the conclusion of the meeting, the European Union delegation\u2019s human rights officer commended the United Kingdom\u2019s pivotal stance and its role in advancing the peace process in Sudan, reaffirming the European Union\u2019s firm position on the need for an immediate end to the war, and announcing that on June 15, the European Union will present a comprehensive report on the human rights situation in Sudan to the United Nations.<\/span><\/h1>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Geneva, June 2, 2026 Representatives of the International Coalition of Human Rights Organizations held an important and extensive meeting with Ms. Katarina Tapio, EU Delegation to the UN in Geneva \/EEAS Human Rights, to review the deteriorating humanitarian and human rights situation in Sudan due to the ongoing war.
