{"id":34957,"date":"2026-05-17T21:07:36","date_gmt":"2026-05-17T19:07:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rhinosd.net\/?p=34957"},"modified":"2026-05-17T21:07:36","modified_gmt":"2026-05-17T19:07:36","slug":"sudanese-teachers-committee-announces-rejection-of-port-sudans-decision-to-reduce-the-number-of-federal-government-employees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rhinosd.net\/?p=34957&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"Sudanese Teachers&#8217; Committee Announces Rejection of Port Sudan&#8217;s Decision to Reduce the Number of Federal Government Employees"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Khartoum: Rhino \u2013 The Sudanese Teachers\u2019 Committee has expressed its rejection of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Welfare\u2019s Decision No. (22) of 2026, which mandates the formation of a committee to \u201cstudy and inventory federal government employees,\u201d develop a plan to reduce the number of employees, and submit recommendations on how to achieve this reduction.<\/span><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">The committee viewed the decision as an extension of the policies of arbitrary dismissal and displacement \u201cfor the public good\u201d practiced by the Islamic Movement following the June 1989 coup, when the civil service was dismantled and thousands of employees were dismissed under administrative and political pretexts, paving the way for the regime\u2019s cadres to take control of state institutions.<\/span><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">The Teachers\u2019 Committee added in a statement on Saturday: \u201cHere are the same policies returning today with new tools, under the guise of \u2018administrative reform\u2019 and \u2018workforce reduction,\u2019 but this time through the current regime formed in the wake of the October 25, 2021 coup, and amid the war raging since April 15, 2023, with the participation of armed forces and movements allied with the regime, which have become direct partners in reproducing the empowerment and division of state institutions and positions of influence).<\/span><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">The statement read: \u201cThe formation of a committee to reduce the workforce in federal government units, in the absence of any legitimate civilian authority or elected constitutional institutions, clearly reveals that the true goal is not reform, but rather to pave the way for further political replacement and empowerment in favor of the cadres of the Islamic Movement and its allies among the ruling powers and Darfur movements participating in the government, in addition to using these measures to marginalize opponents and silence voices calling for reform, and to create a state apparatus based on political loyalty rather than competence and merit. Furthermore, this decision comes at a time when workers are facing dire conditions due to the war, economic collapse, and declining wages, which makes the targeting of jobs and livelihoods a fully-fledged social and political crime).<\/span><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">He added: \u201cThe Sudanese Teachers\u2019 Committee affirms its complete rejection of Ministerial Decision No. (22) of 2026, and considers it null and void politically, morally, and legally, as it was issued under a situation lacking legitimacy and constitutionality. It also rejects any attempt to revive the policy of dismissal for the public good under any name or pretext, or the use of state institutions as a tool for political exclusion, the elimination of opponents, and the silencing of voices demanding reform).<\/span><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">The Committee reaffirmed its commitment to the right of security personnel to job security and rejected the use of war and the economic crisis as a pretext for dismantling the civil service, calling for unity among
