Nyala is known as a city located in a vital location in western Sudan, due to its developed infrastructure, medical and health services, education, and all other services and necessities of daily life. The city is home to many tribes from western Sudan, as well as residents from the center and north, making Nyala an extension of Sudanese social ties through intermarriage.<\/span><\/h1>\n

The Sudanese Air Force has targeted Nyala dozens of times, and these weekly air raids have turned the city into a large pollution bubble, making life difficult due to suffocation, shortness of breath, and chest infections. and the spread of asthma and skin rashes, due to the army’s use of chlorine gas as a weapon in the city, which has led to widespread environmental pollution, affecting the lives of civilians and making their lives hell.<\/span><\/h1>\n

First: Reports from the field on the use of chemical weapons in Nyala:<\/span><\/h1>\n

(H.M.) A Sudanese lawyer arrived in Nyala on October 17, 2024, after leaving Omdurman, the city where he has lived and worked as a lawyer for decades. He left with his family out of fear for himself and his family of arrest and torture after the spread of recent hate speech accusing many members of certain tribes of being \u201cincubators\u201d for the Rapid Support Forces, especially since he belongs to the well-known Fulani tribe, which is widespread in Bara, Nyala, and other cities in western Sudan.<\/span><\/h1>\n

H.A. is originally from the Halfaia area of Khartoum Bahri. He attended middle school at Shambat West School and high school at Wad Al-Sayeh School in Shambat. He enrolled at Omdurman Islamic University to study Sharia and law, graduated, got married, and settled in Omdurman, where he worked as a lawyer, while his extended family remained in Al-Halfaia.<\/span><\/h1>\n

H.A. traveled to Nyala via Export Road, moving from Omdurman through Bara, then west of El Obeid, Debibat, and Abu Zabad, arriving in Al-Da’ein, and then to Nyala, where he is temporarily staying with his family and relatives.<\/span><\/h1>\n

H.A. mentioned that throughout his journey, he saw signs of destruction caused by the war, but the most destruction and devastation was in the city of Al-Fula, where he spent two days at the bus station waiting for the vehicle that would take them to Al-Da’ein. The aerial bombardment caused significant damage to the infrastructure, especially to the police headquarters in Al-Fula. The areas most affected by the aerial bombardment in Al-Da’ein, after they arrived there, were the stock exchange and the Al-Buroush market.<\/span><\/h1>\n

H.A. continued his account, saying that when they arrived in Nyala, they were surprised by the extent of the destruction in the city, especially in terms of infrastructure. After settling in the city, he began to offer his condolences to his family and acquaintances who had been killed in this accursed war, numbering nearly forty.<\/span><\/h1>\n

H.A. noted that everyone in the houses of mourning he visited had eye infections, and that the majority of women and men wore glasses and held handkerchiefs to their eyes after suffering severe infections, causing redness accompanied by severe pain in the eyes and profuse tearing, with constant use of dark glasses to prevent them from facing direct light.<\/span><\/h1>\n

Second: The health conditions of women and children:<\/span><\/h1>\n

H.A. explained that there are increasing complaints in his area and in the Atash camp, which he visited to meet some of his acquaintances, of miscarriages among women, reaching 100 cases per month, and that his wife is currently suffering from continuous bleeding from the uterus.<\/span><\/h1>\n

He added: “Many children are born with obvious birth defects, such as the child born to my relative, the engineer (M. S.), whose umbilical cord is not in the center of the abdomen (the navel), but is located closer to his right kidney (he sent me a video showing the child’s condition, which I will submit with the documents and photos to the relevant authorities). The child is still alive.<\/span><\/h1>\n

Another child was born in the Al-Jair neighborhood of Nyala with a clear deformity of the head (his head resembles the shape of a jar) instead of being spherical, and this child is also alive and well.<\/span><\/h1>\n

H.A. noted that the people of Nyala treat birth defects with shame and embarrassment, hiding their deformed children from view, similar to the stigma associated with rape. Only a few educated people talk about birth defects as a war crime committed against their children.<\/span><\/h1>\n

Third: The spread of chest infections, coughs, and asthma:<\/span><\/h1>\n

Throughout my conversation with (H.A.), I noticed that he had severe pneumonia and was suffering from shortness of breath due to coughing. He kept asking my permission to go to the bathroom to clear his respiratory tract, which was producing a sticky, rubbery white substance similar to silicone. silicone. He told me that he was suffering from severe fatigue and lethargy and that he had been taking vitamins daily, but to no avail.<\/span><\/h1>\n

H.A. said that his friend and neighbor Y.H., who visits him every day, has the same symptoms. He has been ill for more than seven months and has not yet recovered. The same is true of his aunt (F.T.A.), who continues to suffer from severe asthma after having been cured in previous years. Previously, she only suffered from asthma in the fall, but now she is bedridden all day due to her incurable illness.<\/span><\/h1>\n

\nFourth: Examination of the clothing of suffocation victims arriving at Nyala hospitals:<\/span><\/h1>\n

Dr. (A.K.), who works at the Turkish hospital, stated that they strip suffocation victims arriving at the Turkish and Italian hospitals of their clothing They store them in plastic bags and send samples of the clothes to laboratories after finding skin abrasions on the bodies of patients who arrive immediately after the bombing. The laboratories informed them after examination that the substance found on the patients’ clothes was chlorine gas, an internationally banned weapon.<\/span><\/h1>\n

What happened in Nyala constitutes war crimes and crimes against humanity, in which the Sudanese army used deadly and internationally banned weapons to target a large number of civilians residing in the city of Nyala, motivated by abhorrent racism that attributes these unarmed people to the Rapid Support Forces, in a civil war that lacks all standards of morality and law, This has caused harm to the entire Sudanese people.<\/span><\/h1>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
