{"id":18722,"date":"2024-12-31T19:21:18","date_gmt":"2024-12-31T17:21:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rhinosd.net\/?p=18722"},"modified":"2024-12-31T19:21:18","modified_gmt":"2024-12-31T17:21:18","slug":"two-brothers-held-hostage-by-sudanese-army-in-sinja-face-unknown-fate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rhinosd.net\/?p=18722&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"Two brothers held hostage by Sudanese army in Sinja face unknown fate"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Rhino: Agencies &#8211; The family of the two brothers \u201cAli and Ammar\u201d detained by the Sudanese army in the city of Sinja, confirmed that they do not know where their sons are being held and do not know their fate after the authorities prevented them from meeting them.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Armed men belonging to the Sudanese army arrested the two brothers \u201cAli and Muawiya\u201d Ammar Sayed Ali on Nov. 23 in the city of Sinja and took them hostage until their older brother surrendered himself, according to informed sources.<\/span><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">The father of the detainees, Ammar Sayed Ali, told \u201cDarfur 24\u201d that the family is still unaware of their fate and the circumstances of their detention, amid the absence of any information about their health condition or their legal fate.<\/span><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">The father of the detainees explained that the family tried to visit their sons on Monday at their place of detention, but the authorities did not allow them to meet them.<\/span><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">\u201cUntil now, the authorities have not told us anything about their situation, and we do not know whether they are detained in Sinja or have been transferred elsewhere, and whether they will be brought to trial or remain in detention without charge,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">The father of the two brothers appealed to the authorities to immediately release them or bring them to a fair trial. \u201cWe demand that they be released immediately, or at least brought before a fair court, so that we know the charges against them, if any, but their continued detention without explanation makes us live in a state of anxiety and fear,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">The authorities had previously allowed the father to meet his son \u201cAli\u201d only, but not \u201cMuawiya\u201d, which raised doubts and fears about his fate, explaining that the father received promises to release his two sons, but the promise has not been fulfilled until now.<\/span><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">A source previously told \u201cDarfur24\u201d that the family was among the displaced people who sought refuge in Kassala city after the outbreak of the war last April, but after months of suffering, they decided to return to Sinja city, which had not yet fallen under the control of the RSF.<\/span><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Social media sites circulated a video clip showing an armed man affiliated with the Sudanese army threatening the older brother of the detainees, who belongs to the RSF, that his brother would be killed if he did not surrender himself to the army.<\/span><\/h1>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rhino: Agencies &#8211; The family of the two brothers \u201cAli and Ammar\u201d detained by the Sudanese army in the city of Sinja, confirmed that they do not know where their sons are being held and do not know their fate after the authorities prevented them from meeting them.
