Security Council meeting on Sudan on Thursday, which will focus on humanitarian assistance and protection of civilians, Deputy U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Ned Price told reporters on Wednesday.<\/span><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Price added that Blinken&#8217;s announcements will include additional funding for humanitarian assistance and efforts to support civil society and, ultimately, a return to democracy.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">\u201cSadly, Sudan is in danger of becoming a forgotten conflict,\u201d Price said.<\/span><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">\u201cOne of the reasons the secretary chose to hold a signature event on this particular topic is to ensure that it (the conflict) remains in the spotlight.\u201d<\/span><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Price said the U.S. will continue to work with its allies to improve humanitarian access to Sudan and ultimately a cessation of hostilities before the end of President Joe Biden&#8217;s term next month.<\/span><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">\u201cWe will leave nothing on the table in our efforts to work with allies, partners and the Sudanese stakeholders themselves on the most critical issues of humanitarian access, provision and, ultimately, the process by which we can work toward a cessation of hostilities, which is the most urgent thing,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/h1>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rhino: U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken will announce at the United Nations on Thursday additional funding for humanitarian aid to Sudan and efforts to support civil society in the country, where conflict has killed tens of thousands of people and displaced millions.
