Two PKK members injured in bomb blast in northern Iraq

Rhino: Agencies – Two members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) were seriously injured on Tuesday after a bomb attached to their car exploded in Sulaymaniyah city in the semi-autonomous northern Iraqi region, the Kurdistan Regional Counter-Terrorism Service (KRCTS) said in a statement.

The two injured, the driver and a passenger, were members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), the agency said.

Iraq said on Monday it had arrested three PKK-linked people suspected of planning attacks across the country including targeting a major oil export pipeline in the north.

Turkish forces conduct regular military campaigns in neighboring Iraq against PKK militants based there.

Iraq has been stepping up pressure on the PKK since Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan visited Baghdad in April.
