Netherlands end Romania’s adventure to reach the Euro quarter-finals

Rhino: Agencies – The Netherlands moved into the quarterfinals of Euro 2024 after beating Romania 3-0 on Tuesday at the Allianz Arena.

Cody Jakpo scored in the 20th minute, and two goals by Donyell Malin (83 and 90), to await the winner of the Austria-Turkey match in the quarterfinals.

The Netherlands opened the scoring in the 20th minute, with Jakpo’s powerful shot from the left side of the box finding the back of the net.

The Netherlands started the second half strongly and almost added a second goal in the 54th minute, with Depay following a clearance from the Romanian defence into the area, before firing a direct shot that Rakovetan cleared off the line before finding the back of the net.

Just when the Netherlands thought they had killed the game off with Jakpo’s second goal (64), VAR ruled it out for offside to keep Romania’s hopes alive.

Malin put Romania to bed with a second goal (83rd), after Jakpo’s run into the area, and Malin was able to pass the ball to Malin in front of an empty goal to score with ease.

Malin added the third goal in the third minute of stoppage time, from a quick counterattack in which he ran through the middle of the field and manipulated the Romanian defence before shooting a ground ball from inside the area into the net, to end the match with the Netherlands (3-0).
