Rhino: Agencies – In a “closed camp” at the Camp David resort, US President Joe Biden met with his family, Sunday, to discuss the future of his re-election campaign, after his disastrous performance in the presidential debate with Republican candidate Donald Trump.

Citing several high-level Democratic sources, NBC News reported that people close to Biden, 81, believe that only the president and first lady Jill Biden will determine the future of his presidency.

“The decision makers are two people, the president and his wife,” one source said. Anyone who doesn’t understand the depth of this decision on a personal and family level has no knowledge of the situation,” one source said).

Another source added:(The only person who has ultimate influence over him is the First Lady. If she decides there should be a change of course, there will be a change of course).

During the 90-minute debate against former President Trump, Biden often appeared sluggish, and on several occasions, he froze mid-thought, misspoke or struggled to form coherent sentences.

The octogenarian president returned to Camp David with the first lady on Saturday evening, joining their children and grandchildren.

The closed-door meeting at Camp David is expected to revolve around the future of the presidency, and Biden may decide whether to continue or not, but the meeting will not carry any official colour, and will be family-oriented, but with important decisions.

These developments come amid calls for Biden to withdraw from the presidential race and make way for another Democrat to run, even from some of his supporters.
