Battles in Sennar: Hundreds of displaced people live in catastrophic conditions in Sinja

Exclusive: Rhino – Volunteers in the emergency rooms in the city of Sinja revealed that thousands of displaced people have entered the city’s borders from the Sennar side, as a result of the battles that took place between the army and the Rapid Support during the past two days in Jabal Moya and the surrounding areas.

The volunteers told Rhino that part of the IDPs who entered Sinja crossed to Blue Nile, Gedaref and Port Sudan states, while hundreds of them were stranded on the road leading to Sennar.

The volunteers explained that hundreds of IDPs are living in catastrophic conditions at the entrance to the city without any attention or care from the authorities, who were absent from performing their duties, adding: “The authorities did not care about them, including patients, the elderly, young people and women.

One of the volunteers said that the number of displaced people is constantly increasing, as Sennar city used to host thousands of displaced people from Khartoum and Madani states, in addition to the original population.

The western parts of Sennar city are witnessing violent battles between the army and the RSD, after the latter took control of the strategic Jebel Mweya area, which connects three states, namely Sennar, Gezira and White Nile.
