Lack of cash worsens conditions for army troops in El Fasher

Rhino: Agencies – A number of Sudanese army soldiers involved in the battle axes in the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, complained on Wednesday about the difficulty of obtaining cash in exchange for their wages, which are sent through the Bankak app.
Hundreds of Sudanese army personnel in El Fasher are facing tragic conditions due to the lack of cash due to the fact that most markets are completely out of service due to the continuous artillery shelling on the city.
A senior Sudanese army officer commanding one of the military units, who preferred to remain anonymous, told “Darfur24” that army members and their families are living in tragic conditions, forcing some of them to leave the bases and battle axes in the city in search of cash. The source added that the deteriorating living conditions forced the soldiers to sell their “war salary” of ammunition to help their families.
The families of the soldiers in El Fasher expressed their regret over the state of their living conditions these days, noting that hunger has begun to kill them due to low wages and the difficulty of obtaining cash to buy the necessities of life.
Another military source within an armed movement allied to the army, on condition of anonymity, confirmed to “Darfur 24” that the suffering of the soldiers’ families has worsened these days.
The source pointed out that there is frustration among the soldiers, which prompted most of them to withdraw from the positions and axes of fighting, in addition to the spread of markets to sell military salaries, warning that the state of frustration experienced by the soldiers will affect the conduct of military operations.
