International Organisation for Migration: Number of displaced people in Sudan exceeds ten million

Rhino: Agencies – The United Nations International Organization for Migration (IOM) revealed on Monday that the number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Sudan has exceeded 10 million as a result of the civil war in the country.
More than two million Sudanese have sought refuge abroad, mostly in Chad, South Sudan and Egypt, the organization’s spokesman, Mohamed Ali Abu Najila, said in a statement.
The number of displaced people inside Sudan has exceeded 10 million, he said.
UN and international calls to avert a humanitarian catastrophe that could push millions into starvation due to food shortages have increased, as fighting has spread to 12 of the country’s 18 states.
