Khartoum: Rhino – Professors at the University of Khartoum’s College of Medicine have decided to proceed with mass resignations, through a unified collective memorandum, in conjunction with individual resignations—in accordance with established administrative procedures—in protest against the deteriorating conditions at the college, according to a statement issued by the professors on Thursday.
The professors emphasized that it is impossible to hold exams under the current circumstances and given the severe shortage of academic staff, and decided to postpone the exams indefinitely until the academic requirements for conducting them are met.
The statement read: “Dialogue has been exhausted, memoranda have been submitted, and solutions have been proposed; there is no longer any room for further waiting or procrastination. Accordingly, the position of the Faculty of Medicine professors is shifting from the stage of demands to that of action and implementation. These decisions are neither a threat nor a maneuver, but rather a final stance dictated by the current circumstances, and we hold the responsible authorities fully accountable for the consequences of allowing this situation to continue without resolution”.
The faculty members of the College of Medicine have decided to submit official communications to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Office of the Prime Minister, and the relevant sovereign authorities, to present them with the reality of the situation at the College of Medicine.
