The security cell of the Sudanese army arrests a feminist activist in Algadaref

Algadaref: Rhino – The Sudanese Civilian Political Feminist Groups Initiative (Mensem) revealed that the security cell in Gadaref state arrested on Sunday the initiative’s member, Sudanese activist Nada Hashim.

In a statement, MANSEM confirmed that the military intelligence took the activist to an unknown location since Sunday morning, and her family was not informed of her arrest or whereabouts.

Mansem held the military intelligence responsible for the safety of the activist, calling for her release.

In a statement to Radio Tamazuj, Sawsan Abdel Rahman al-Shuwaya, spokesperson for the Sudanese Civil Society Confederation, confirmed that Nada Hashim was on her way to participate in the ‘Progress’ conference in Addis Ababa when she was arrested.

She explained that she was invited among a number of grassroots groups that participated in the Taqaddam conference, explaining that Nada is active in providing assistance to displaced women and people displaced by the war in Sudan.

The right to participate in the conference is a legitimate right that cannot be confiscated from anyone, she said, emphasizing her rejection of Nada’s arrest.
