Head of the Civil Democratic Alliance of Revolutionary Forces “Sumoud” Former Prime Minister Dr. Abdullah Hamdok
Rhino: Agencies – The Chairman of the Coordination of Civil Democratic Forces (Taqaddam), former Sudanese Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok, appealed to the governments of countries hosting Sudanese refugees to exert more efforts and improve their humanitarian situation.
In his speech at the opening session of the Coordination’s founding conference on Monday in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, Hamdok thanked ‘brothers’ in African and Arab countries, especially neighboring countries, according to his speech.
‘We reiterate our appeal to the governments of these countries to exert more efforts to heal the wounds of Sudanese refugees by facilitating procedures and providing all possible assistance to them, and the memory of our people will preserve these honorable stands from the brothers,’ he said.
Hamdok pointed out that the war in Sudan has caused unprecedented destruction of the resources of the Sudanese people and an increase in cases of violations against them, warning of the portents of famine that threaten the Sudanese people, adding: ‘This famine, if not corrected, will lead to the loss of lives and exceed the numbers of those who died under the bullets.
The former prime minister called on the regional and international community to shoulder their responsibilities by pressuring the conflicting parties to allow the delivery of humanitarian aid unconditionally, and not to use food and medicine as a weapon to kill more innocent civilians, he said.
He stressed the need for an immediate and serious endeavor by the international community to stop the war by bringing the conflicting parties back to the negotiating table.
