Khartoum: Raino – The Rapid Support Forces announced on Monday that they repelled what they described as a treacherous attack by the army and allied militias in Babnusa, West Kordofan, confirming in a statement their commitment to the truce proposed by the Quartet, pointing out that they had no choice but to exercise their legitimate right to defend themselves and repel the aggression.

The Rapid Support Forces renewed their firm commitment to the humanitarian truce they had declared, stressing that the army forces had exploited this to continue their repeated attacks on a number of towns and villages, killing and injuring hundreds of innocent civilians, in addition to continuing to mobilize to continue fighting, endangering the lives of civilians and negatively affecting the flow of humanitarian aid, according to the statement.

The statement called on the Quartet countries and regional and international organizations to condemn the army’s repeated attacks, the latest of which was the attack on the Kamu area in South Kordofan, which killed more than 46 students and injured dozens, noting that self-defense and the defense of civilians is a legitimate right guaranteed by all international laws.
