50,000 spectators at Nyala Equestrian Derby Final

Nyala: Rhino – In an extraordinary public gathering that carried significant political and social messages, the Minister of Health of the Transitional Peace Government, Dr. Alaaeldin Nugud, attended the final of the Nyala Equestrian Derby in the administrative capital, Nyala. The event drew an estimated crowd of more than 50,000 spectators, reflecting social cohesion and presenting a different image of the reality in areas under the Transitional Peace Government.

The event served as a unifying national occasion that celebrated Sudan’s rich heritage, traditions, and customs, while highlighting the community’s resilience, its commitment to peaceful coexistence, and its ability to preserve social bonds despite ongoing challenges.
The Minister received a warm public welcome, with enthusiastic chants reflecting his strong field presence, continuous engagement with citizens, and close attention to their health and humanitarian concerns.

The presence of a federal minister of such standing before a gathering of this magnitude carried significance beyond the sporting event itself. It underscored the continued functioning of the Transitional Peace Government’s institutions and demonstrated Nyala’s capacity to organize and host major public events with broad community participation.
The Equestrian Derby Final was more than a sporting competition; it became a community celebration that reflected the people’s determination to embrace life, preserve their cultural heritage, and affirm—through their remarkable turnout—their own story of resilience, unity, and hope.
