Gedaref: Rhino – The Gedaref Criminal Court on Sunday sentenced a lawyer, A.M.R.M, to death by hanging on charges of collaborating with the Rapid Support Forces, under articles of the 1991 Criminal Code related to fomenting war against the state, criminal groups and organizations, and terrorism.

According to Sudan News Agency (SPA), the judge of the Gedaref Criminal Court, Al-Hassan Al-Noush, sentenced the lawyer to death by hanging for violating Article 51, in addition to ten years in prison for violating Article 65.

The case stems from the arrest of the lawyer near his residence in the airport neighborhood, following information that he was affiliated with the RSF, according to the agency.

In March, the Gedaref Criminal Court sentenced Ibrahim Osman Ahmed, 30, to death by hanging and ten years in prison on charges of belonging to the RSF.

The convicted man’s brother told Radio Tamazuj that the photo on which the court based his brother’s conviction is an old photo from 2017, taken in the city of Kass in South Darfur state, considering it a normal and familiar photo according to the region and its culture, denying the accusation that his brother belonged to the RSF.
