Rhino – Agencies: “We highly appreciate the role that Turkey plays, as you know, Turkey is a key NATO member,” said Yuri Kim, the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs.
She also referred in an online press conference to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s personal efforts to resolve the major problems that have emerged as a result of the conflict.
“We appreciate, for example, Erdogan’s initiative to launch a grain deal in the Black Sea, but unfortunately, Russian President Vladimir Putin did not want to reciprocate President Erdogan’s goodwill, and the grain deal failed”, Kim said.
The representative of the US diplomat believes that Ankara should coordinate its moves with its NATO allies, stressing that they need to “stay together within the framework of the alliance. “We hope that coordination will continue with us as NATO partners face historic threats,” she added.
Meanwhile, the State Department is questioning Moscow’s proposals to sit at the negotiating table. “The Russian leader denies Ukraine’s sovereignty, even if he pretends to be interested in negotiations,” Kim said.
