Rhino: Sudanese police rejected the decision by army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan to issue passports to all Sudanese. The director of the Passports and Immigration Department, Osman Mohamed al-Hassan Dinkawi, said that canceling the ban on issuing passports to people on the lists requires a legal amendment.
Al-Burhan had directed the Passports and Immigration Department at the Ministry of Interior not to deny passports and identity documents in a speech on Saturday.
Activists considered Al-Burhan’s directive and the police’s refusal as role-playing to create political propaganda, pointing out that this is a planned plan to issue the decision, then a meeting with the Director General of Police, only for the latter to retreat under the pretext of legal amendment, stressing that the Port Sudan authority continues to violate the basic rights of Sudanese on racist grounds.
