Al-Arab Newspaper: Sudanese Army Wary of Growing Popular Resistance

Rhino: Khartoum, Sudan’s military is reportedly apprehensive about the escalating strength of the popular resistance movement, according to an article published today in Al-Arab newspaper.

The article references comments made by Lieutenant General Shams El Din Kabashi, Deputy Commander of the Sudanese Armed Forces. Kabashi expressed anxieties that the popular resistance could morph into a significant threat if left unchecked.

To address these concerns, Kabashi advocated for the creation of a legal framework and organizational bodies to govern the popular resistance movement. He further emphasized the importance of restricting weapon distribution solely to those under military control.

Despite being part of the ruling Transitional Military Council (TMC), the Sudanese army and RSF have clashed over various issues, including the RSF’s role in national security.

The article concludes by suggesting that the future of the popular resistance movement hinges on the TMC’s ability to effectively manage the situation.
