Yasir Atta: We will not hand over power to civilians, and Burhan will lead the transitional period after war

Port Sudan: Rhino – Lieutenant General Yasir Atta, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Army, said on Saturday that the army will not hand over the government to civilian forces without elections, and that Burhan will oversee the “transitional period” that will follow the end of the war.

The army forces published a video on Saturday showing Atta confirming their intention not to hand over power to civilians after the end of the April 15th war.

In the first comment on Atta’s statements, Khalid Omar Youssef, the official spokesperson for the Coordination of Civil Democratic Forces, wrote on his personal Facebook account on Saturday: (Good job, Lieutenant General Yasir Atta, in revealing the truth about one of the goals of this war and its objectives… It is indeed a war to establish an authoritarian military regime and block any hopes for a civilian democratic transition in Sudan).

He added:(This war is an extension of a long series of conspiracies and aggressions to block the path of the glorious December Revolution… starting from the dispersal of the sit-in at the General Command, through the conspiracy against the transitional period and suffocating it by stirring up security disturbances in various parts of the country, closing the east of Sudan, and the palace sit-in with paid value, leading to the October 25 coup and the subsequent suppression of revolutionaries and arbitrary arrests, ending with the April 15 war whose truth is revealed day after day).

He continued: (The civilian democratic forces will not lose their way and this war will not distort their vision. We will remain against this war and will not side with any of its forms or parties. We will continue to expose the falsehood of its false narratives and stand guard against anyone who wants evil for our country and its people, and Sudan will emerge from this ordeal stronger, better, and more beautiful inevitably).
