Rapid Support Forces Meet the African Union High-Level Mechanism to Stop the War

Rhino: Khartoum, March 7, 2024: A delegation from the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) headed by Brigadier General Omar Hamdan met today, Thursday, with the African Union High-Level Mechanism (AUHLM) to Stop the War and Rebuild Sudan headed by Dr. Mohamed Ben Chambas.

The meeting discussed the objectives of the AUHLM, the nature of the conflict in Sudan and its historical dimensions, the African continent’s legacy in resolving conflicts, the negotiation rounds in Jeddah and Bahrain and the initiatives aimed at stopping the war, the vision of the RSF Commander to end the war, and establish a comprehensive political solution.

Dr. Ben Chambas emphasized that the four pillars of the AUHLM’s work is ceasefire, delivery of humanitarian aid, launching the political process, and coordinating initiatives, the nature of the conflict in Sudan and its historical dimensions, and the role of the AUHLM in silencing the guns and rebuilding Sudan.

Ms. Specioza Naigaga, former Vice President of Uganda and member of the AUHLM, presented an explanation of the African continent’s legacy in resolving conflicts.

Brigadier General Omar Hamdan provided a briefing on the negotiation rounds in Jeddah and Bahrain and the initiatives aimed at stopping the war.

Advisor Mohamed Al-Mukhtar addressed the violations committed by the armed forces against civilians.

Iz El Din Al-Safi, a member of the delegation, presented a detailed explanation of the RSF Commander’s vision to end the war and establish a comprehensive political solution.
