RSF Announce Operation in Gezira Following Reports of Criminal Activity

Khartoum – March 5, 2024: The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced an operation in the Katra area south of Abu Guta in Gezira State, in response to reports from local residents about criminal activities including looting, theft, and intimidation.

The operation resulted in armed clashes that led to the elimination of 20 criminals. Unfortunately, a brave RSF officer and two soldiers were killed, while others were injured. We wish the wounded a speedy recovery.

The operation came after reports received by the RSF late on the evening of March 3 from local residents, who described criminal activities such as looting and theft.

Upon arrival at the designated location, our forces encountered armed resistance while attempting to apprehend the criminals.

After a fierce battle, 20 criminals were successfully neutralized. Investigations are currently underway to identify the individuals involved and determine the motives behind their attacks on innocent civilians. The confrontation resulted in the martyrdom of three RSF members, including the unit commander. Several others were injured.

RSF said:(We take all such reports seriously and condemn any use of force against civilians by any group or individual. We reiterate that the RSF leadership has issued clear and standing directives to decisively address any threats to the safety of citizens or their property).

RSF continued:(We have documented in recent days cases of non-RSF personnel wearing RSF uniforms while committing crimes in “Sennar”, White Nile, and “Qadarif” states. These cases strongly appear to be disinformation campaigns orchestrated by the former regime, with civilians being targeted by their jihadist militias in RSF clothing).

(We assure all residents of Gezira State that we remain committed to relentlessly pursuing criminals, ensuring their apprehension, and providing the necessary protection to maintain security and stability throughout the region),”RSF” said.
