King of Jordan meets the US Secretary of State and stresses the need to end the war on the Gaza Strip

Rhino – Agencies: Jordan’s King Abdullah II, during his meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Washington on Tuesday, stressed the need to end the war on Gaza and protect its population from worsening the tragic humanitarian situation.

The King stressed the importance of the international community to play its role, especially the major and influential countries, to prevent the spread of conflict in the region.

He renewed Jordan’s total rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians from their land or to reoccupy parts of Gaza, establish buffer zones in it, or separate them from the West Bank.

King Abdullah indicated that the continued expansion of Israeli operations in the Gaza Strip will have catastrophic humanitarian and security repercussions, especially in the dangerous humanitarian situation.

The Jordanian King warned of the seriousness of the repercussions of the Israeli attack on Rafah, which has nearly one and a half million residents of Gaza after forcing them to emige from their residences.

King Abdullah asserted that military solutions will not work and that violence generates violence, stressing that there is no alternative to a political solution to achieve a just and comprehensive peace.

The king stated that the only way to achieve peace is a two-state solution that guarantees the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the lines of June 4, 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the relevant resolutions of international legitimacy.

The King reiterated the importance of continuing to support the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) to enable it to provide its vital humanitarian services as mandated by the United Nations.
