Rhino: Follow-up – Darfur Initiative for Justice and Peace condemned in a statement today the army’s targeting of a commercial vehicle in the Malha area of North Darfur with a drone on Saturday, which resulted in the deaths of eight civilians who were on board. Two of them have been identified as (Mohammed Mousa Bakhit Takras) and (Ali Saeed Abkar).
The statement read: (The Darfur Initiative for Justice and Peace condemns this latest crime committed by the Islamic Movement’s army, which has continued its systematic targeting of civilians and intensified its bombardment over the past two months in the regions of Darfur, Kordofan, and Blue Nile, resulting in more than 1,000 deaths, an equal number of injuries, and extensive destruction of property).
The statement added: (We are fully aware that the terrorist Islamic Movement will not cease its targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure as long as it has the capacity to do so and as long as the war continues. Therefore, if the international community wishes to stop these massacres and violations and protect civilians, it must impose a three-month humanitarian ceasefire, exert pressure on the party refusing to comply, impose further sanctions, and restrict the arming with drones, which are now used solely to target innocent civilians).
