Rhino: Follow-up – The Civil Democratic Coalition of Revolutionary Forces “Sumoud” has warned of a worsening humanitarian crisis in Sudan, the severity of which was underscored by the joint ministerial statement issued by the United Kingdom and 31 international partners on October 23, 2026, noting that approximately 19.5 million Sudanese are suffering from acute food insecurity and that millions of lives are now threatened by famine in the coming months.
The coalition welcomed the international statement, affirming its full support for all the demands it outlined, foremost among them the unrestricted opening of all relief corridors, the protection of civilians and humanitarian workers, the removal of obstacles to aid delivery, and the mobilization of urgent resources to address the humanitarian disaster.
In a statement, “Sumud” emphasized that the war is the main driver of the famine and that the humanitarian response will not be sufficient as long as military operations continue. It pointed out that an immediate and unconditional humanitarian truce throughout Sudan is an absolute priority that cannot be delayed or compromised.
The statement called on both parties to the conflict to immediately agree to a humanitarian ceasefire, which requires broad public support to exert serious and coordinated pressure to end the war. It also calls for urgent action by the international community to ensure the ceasefire is implemented and aid is delivered, paving the way for a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire and a political process to end the war.
The statement read: (Saving the lives of millions of Sudanese men and women from starvation and death cannot wait, and the right to life must not be subordinated to any political or military calculations by any of the warring parties. No leniency should be shown toward any party that obstructs the adoption or implementation of the humanitarian ceasefire, for every hour that the war continues, the people of Sudan pay a heavy price in terms of their lives, their blood, their security, and their daily sustenance).
