Rhino: Follow-up – The Transitional Government of Peace condemned on Friday what it described as a “series of bloody and escalating crimes of genocide” committed by Burhan’s army at a health center in Al-Da’ein, as well as in the markets of Abu Jabira, Babanusa, and Nyala, resulting in civilian deaths and injuries.
The government added in a statement: “Army forces continued to commit daily massacres against innocent civilians and civilian infrastructure, carrying out a series of treacherous, bloody attacks targeting civilians on Thursday, October 22.”
The statement continued: “These attacks resulted in a heavy toll, including the targeting of the Al-Arab neighborhood health center in the city of Al-Da’ein in East Darfur, which led to the deaths of three civilians and left dozens with injuries of varying severity; a brutal bombardment of the Abu Jabira market in East Darfur, which killed an innocent child and injured ten other civilians, including women and men, as well as an attack on Federal Police buildings in the Babanusa locality in West Kordofan, causing massive material damage and injuring two civilians; and a treacherous attack on the Government Secretariat in Nyala on October 21, in a new wave of attacks targeting public administration headquarters).
The Transitional Peace Government affirmed that the systematic targeting of civilians in markets, health facilities, and service institutions proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Port Sudan Army leadership has adopted the terrorization, extermination, and displacement of defenseless citizens as an official military strategy to break the will to live among the peoples of Sudan.
The government described the attacks as flagrant violations amounting to war crimes, crimes against humanity, and ethnic cleansing, noting that these crimes are not subject to statutes of limitations.
It added: (The leaders of the army, the terrorist organization, and its military fronts will not escape the full force of international and domestic justice, no matter how much time passes.” Accordingly, the Government of Peace issues an urgent appeal to the international community, the Security Council, the United Nations, and all human rights organizations to break their silence and intervene immediately to impose a comprehensive no-fly zone that prevents this criminal machine from continuing to claim civilian lives, and to dispatch independent international commissions of inquiry to hold the perpetrators of this horrific massacre accountable).
