Rhino: Agencies – The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement – Democratic Revolutionary Current condemned on Tuesday what it described as the bloody massacre committed by the army air force, whose government is led by the terrorist Islamic Movement in Port Sudan, in Tora, North Darfur state, which claimed the lives of a number of innocent citizens, mostly women and children.
The movement said in a statement on Tuesday: ‘This brutal crime confirms the criminal nature of the coup regime and its militias and demonstrates their complete disregard for the lives of Sudanese people in rural areas and their lack of respect for the rule of international human rights law. This crime represents an extension of the continuation of the genocide and attacking safe villages devoid of any military manifestations.’
In its statement, the movement expressed our deep indignation at the irresponsible threats made by Yasser al-Atta, ‘which were not limited to inciting violence and killing, but reached an explicit threat to neighboring countries: Chad, South Sudan and the United Arab Emirates.’ She added: ‘This reckless behavior reveals the isolation of this regime, its recklessness, its lack of respect for the sovereignty of states and neighbors and reflects its danger to the security of Sudan and the entire region.’
The statement said: ‘We affirm that we will work with all living revolutionary forces and human rights organizations to document them, prosecute the perpetrators and bring them to justice, locally or internationally. We also appeal to the international community, the region, the United Nations and human rights organizations to assume their moral and legal responsibilities towards peoples and intervene urgently to stop the bloodshed, impose a no-fly zone over conflict areas, and ensure the protection of civilians.’
