Peace Government Welcomes the European Resolution to Counter the Influence of the Muslim Brotherhood

Rhino: Follow-up – The Transitional Government of Peace welcomed the European Parliament’s resolution to counter the influence of the Muslim Brotherhood, cut off its funding sources, and designate it as a terrorist organization. The government described the European move as courageous and historic, as it received overwhelming support with a majority of 381 votes, to establish a comprehensive strategy to counter the influence of the Muslim Brotherhood, cut off its funding sources, and assess the inclusion of its entities on terrorism lists.

The government added in a statement today: (The Government of Peace highly values the provisions and main points of the resolution, particularly the clear demands to halt funding and review funds granted to any front groups or organizations suspected of having ties to this extremist group, as well as commending the call directed to the Council of the European Union to assess the official inclusion of individuals and entities linked to the group on European terrorism lists).

The statement read: (This historic stance by European countries in designating the Muslim Brotherhood and its affiliates as a terrorist group reinforces the position of the Government of Peace, which enacted a law designating the Muslim Brotherhood and the Sudanese Islamic Movement as terrorist organizations on October 23, 2025.

It is also directly consistent with the grim reality in Sudan, as the Government of Peace affirms that the networks of this terrorist organization have directly contributed to igniting and fueling the devastating war in Sudan, and to prolonging the suffering of the Sudanese people, who have been scorched by the fire of this group and its military wings—which the United States designated as a global terrorist organization last March of this year. This European vote was received with great appreciation. This position also aligns with the government’s vision regarding the need to dismantle the infrastructure—political and financial—of the organization and its remnants, who continue to obstruct the path to peace and democratic transition in the country.

The statement added: (Confronting this dangerous infiltration is not merely a Sudanese matter; rather, it plays a pivotal role in protecting regional stability, neighboring countries, and the Horn of Africa from cross-border threats. In this context, the Government of Peace reaffirms its full commitment to the strategic partnership with the European Union and the international community in developing strategic policies for security and defense, and in combating terrorism and organized crime).

The Transitional Government of Peace urged the institutions of the European Union and its member states to swiftly implement these historic recommendations and translate them into binding and urgent executive decisions, and it reaffirmed its commitment to moving forward with the adoption of political and humanitarian arrangements to build a state of citizenship and sustainable peace, free from hate speech, extremism, and terrorism.
