Special detention centers for the Baraa bin Malik militia inside the army intelligence headquarters

Rhino: Sources told Rhino that the Al-Baraa bin Malik militia has established its own detention centers in a number of Sudanese army intelligence headquarters, where prisoners are subjected to torture. The sources said that the militia now has the right to arrest, detain, torture and execute with the tacit approval of the Port Sudan government, and under the eyes and ears of the armed forces officers and soldiers.

The sources pointed out that the militias affiliated with the Islamic Movement have recently refrained from broadcasting videos of the torture and executions they carry out and have become content to record the sound of the tortured detainee screaming, and publish it publicly, with the aim of causing panic in the hearts of Sudanese.

Since the army entered Wad Madani last January, the militia has been publishing “death lists” containing the names of targeted citizens who are members of resistance committees, service and change committees, emergency committees, volunteers in communal kitchens, and members of western Sudanese ethnicities, under the pretext of collaborating with the RSF.

Videos broadcast by the Baraa militia in January of its members executing citizens in the streets, slaughtering them with knives and smashing their skulls with machetes sparked angry reactions from local and international human rights organizations. Political analysts argued that these crimes could lead army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan to the International Criminal Court (ICC).
