Darfur Justice Initiative Condemns the Army’s Targeting of Civilians in Um Kadada

Rhino: Follow-up – Darfur Justice and Peace Initiative condemned the army’s drone strike on the “Al-Na’im” market in the Um Kadada locality on Wednesday evening, which killed and wounded dozens of civilians, as well as the bombing of the local market in the Furawaya area east of the Karnoui locality in North Darfur State in a separate attack, which killed one civilian, injured several others, and destroyed five vehicles loaded with goods heading to the market from Nyala.

The Initiative added in a statement today: (While the Sudanese people are enduring the tragedy of the killing of hundreds of Sudanese miners in North Wadi by the Egyptian air force, the army of the terrorist Islamic Movement is confirming that, in its eyes, Sudanese blood is worth no more than a mosquito’s wing. We at the Darfur Initiative for Justice and Peace pray for the souls of the victims, wish a speedy recovery to the wounded and injured, and call for compensation for those affected by the bombing. We also condemn these repeated crimes and massacres against innocent civilians).

The statement read: “The deplorable response to the two massacres in North Wadi has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that the terrorist Islamic Movement—along with its proxy, the Sudanese army, its militias, and its allies—considers Sudanese citizens, the sanctity of their blood, the protection of their property, and the preservation of their lands and wealth to be at the very bottom of its list of concerns and priorities.”

It continued: (As we condemn these violations, we continue to renew and reiterate our calls to all national and international organizations to condemn these massacres that the Islamic Movement’s army has been committing against innocent civilians among the Sudanese people, and to urge judicial, international, and law enforcement institutions to respond swiftly and intervene immediately to protect civilians and bring to justice those proven to be involved in these crimes to justice).
