TASIS Alliance Condemns the Egyptian Air Force’s Massacre of Miners in Northern Sudan

Rhino: Follow-up – The Sudan Founding Alliance (Tasis) condemned what it described as a bloody massacre carried out by the Egyptian Air Force in the North Wadi region. The Alliance added in a statement today: “The North Wadi region, located within Sudanese territory, was subjected to a surprise attack by the Egyptian Air Force targeting Sudanese miners engaged in traditional mining. This attack resulted in more than 200 deaths and a large number of injuries, according to preliminary figures.”

The statement continued: “The Sudan Founding Alliance condemns the treacherous Egyptian attack that shed the blood of Sudanese citizens and caused this heinous bloodbath. It holds the Egyptian government responsible for the killing of civilians and demands an independent and transparent international investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding Egypt’s role in the ongoing conflict in Sudan and its continued killing of civilians. We also call on the international community and human rights organizations to condemn this blatant aggression and work to hold those responsible to account.”

The statement added: “This shocking Egyptian targeting, which has shed the blood of Sudanese people, and this ongoing violation of Sudan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the lives of our citizens, reveals an indisputable truth about Egypt’s intentions and ambitions regarding Sudan’s resources, amid the absence of the state and the full collusion of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood regime with Egyptian agencies.”

It continued: “This heinous bloodbath was not the only one; throughout this year, the Egyptian Air Force has carried out airstrikes targeting various regions of the country, resulting in the killing and wounding of hundreds of Sudanese.”
