Rhino: Agencies – Adam Rajal, spokesperson for the General Coordination Office for Displaced Persons and Refugees in the Darfur region, confirmed that 1,394 people—comprising 260 families—have arrived at the Tawila camp in North Darfur State, amid a severe shortage of humanitarian aid.
Rijal said that between September 28 and October 3, 2026, the Tawila area witnessed the arrival of a new wave of displaced persons from various areas in North Darfur, totaling 260 families and 1,394 people.
He explained that the new IDPs arrived under dire humanitarian conditions due to the deterioration of security and living conditions, food insecurity, drought, low rainfall, and the worsening effects of famine, in addition to limited basic services and resources.
He noted that the newly displaced people urgently need food, medicine, clean drinking water, shelter, medical care, sanitation and hygiene services, psychosocial support, and protection.
