Sudan to face Niger in penultimate round of African Nations qualifiers

Rhino: Agencies – The Sudanese football team, the “Jadian Falcons”, continue their preparations to face Niger in the penultimate round of the sixth group of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers to be held in Morocco. The match between the two teams is scheduled to be played on November 14 in a decisive encounter.

In the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Sudan top their group ahead of Senegal, Republic of Congo, Togo, South Sudan and Mauritania. In the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, the “Guardian Falcons” are second in their group behind Angola, ahead of Ghana and Niger, bringing the team closer to realizing the dream of qualifying for the continental championship.

James Kwasi Appiah, the former Ghana coach, took over the Sudanese national team in 2023 and has made a big change in the team. Under his leadership, Sudan lost only two out of 14 matches.

Abdulrahman Koko, a Sudanese national team player, said: “I think the mentality of the team has changed thanks to the coach, he gives every player confidence and belief. “Everything he says means it. When he says he will lead us to the African Cup of Nations or the World Cup, we believe it.”

Since the outbreak of war in Sudan, the Guardian Falcons have played eight official matches, winning five, drawing two, and losing one. Due to the security situation in Sudan, matches are played on neutral grounds in South Sudan and Libya.
