Rhino: Follow-up – Dr. Abdullah Hamdok, Chairman of the Civil Democratic Alliance of Revolutionary Forces “Sumoud,” said that what Lt. Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan has launched is not a national dialogue and lacks any credibility. He pointed out that the army commander’s dialogue is a unilateral process confined to areas under his military control, aimed at fabricating political legitimacy.
Hamdok added in a press statement today: “The army commander’s dialogue does not aim to end the war, address the humanitarian catastrophe, or put an end to the immense suffering endured by the Sudanese people. Sudan cannot be unified through a dialogue that perpetuates its division, nor can peace be built through a process that paves the way for a new military dictatorship ruling half the country”.
Hamdok stressed that any serious political process must begin with ending the war and must be independent, comprehensive, under civilian leadership, and encompass the entire country; for the future of Sudan belongs to its people, not to the generals who are destroying it.
