Atoro Tribe Take to the Streets in a Massive Rally in Support of the Peaceful Solution Initiative

Raino: Follow-up – With broad participation from the Women’s Union, the Youth Union, and the Veterans’ Union, along with local community leaders, the Atoro Tribal Council organized a massive public march today, Saturday, to express its support for and welcome the initiative of Commander Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, Chairman of the Presidential Council, aimed at halting the fighting and paving the way for a peaceful solution.

Speakers during the march emphasized that the Atoro tribe’s position is firm and well-stated: to support and accept any serious initiative that would contribute to stopping the bloodshed, promoting peace, uniting the Nubian people, and resolving differences through dialogue and mutual understanding.

A number of speakers praised the efforts made by the Vice President of the Popular Movement and Governor of the Nuba Mountains Region, Commander Jagod Makwar Marada, to contain the crisis and push for peace. They also commended the initiatives and calls launched by the Council of Churches and the Islamic Council, emphasizing the importance of integrating community and religious efforts to reach a peaceful and sustainable solution.

The speakers called on all segments of the Hiban district to support the initiative, to raise the voice of peace and dialogue, and to work to thwart anyone seeking to derail peace efforts or deepen divisions among the people of Nubia.

A number of speakers warned against attempts to derail the Presidential Council Chairman’s initiative, as has happened with previous initiatives, stressing that repeatedly thwarting peace initiatives will only lead to more suffering, more casualties, and further complications in the crisis.
