Citizens protest in Port Sudan against the expiration of the currency exchange deadline

Rhino: Agencies – A number of citizens in Port Sudan city in the Red Sea State protested the expiration of the currency exchange deadline scheduled for yesterday without being able to exchange their 1000 and 500 pounds.

The protesters gathered in front of the Red Sea State Government Secretariat on Tuesday, holding the old currency in their hands, and expressed their hope that the currency exchange period would be extended so that they could deposit their remaining funds.

The Central Bank of Sudan issued a directive to banks yesterday in the states where the currency exchange was scheduled to close the storage lock for the replaced 1000 and 500 pounds on the last day of December 30, except for Sennar state, where it was decided to close the exchange today, Tuesday.

Citizens are complaining about the continued scarcity of liquidity and the lack of money in their hands to buy their needs due to the difficulty of withdrawing from banks and not giving them the new currency.
