Khartoum: Rhino – The Constituent Front condemned on Sunday what it described as the massacre of the Sudanese army in Station 13 market in East Nile locality in Khartoum state, which resulted in the killing of (400) civilians, most of them women and children, and the wounding of at least 200 others in the attack, in addition to the complete destruction of the shops in the market.
The Front added in a statement on Sunday: “The series of crimes of the Sudanese warplanes of the army continues its intensive air raids on areas crowded with civilians and markets on Saturday on the ‘13’ market in East Nile, which is crowded with unarmed civilians. As a result, at least 400 people were killed, mostly women and children who were inside the market to buy their necessities, and at least 200 others were injured by the bombing, in addition to the complete destruction of shops in the market.
The statement said: “The incident is not the first of its kind in which the warplanes targeted markets crowded with civilians. The army bombed a number of markets in Darfur, Kordofan and Khartoum, the most recent of which was the bombing of Kandahar market in Omdurman last week.
The statement continued: “All these massacres that violate international humanitarian law and human rights against civilians do not need evidence or proof because they are in full view and hearing of everyone, but the international and regional community did not lift a finger, and they remain silent and pass these crimes without convicting their perpetrators or bringing them to court.
For its part, the Feminist Gathering to Advocate for Women’s Issues and Support the Cessation of War in Sudan called for a flight ban “which has been killing citizens in all parts of the country.”
