Sumoud alliance: We Will Not Be a Party to Any False Solutions That Reproduce the Crisis

Rhino: Follow-up – The Civil Coalition of Revolutionary Forces (Sumoud) denied having received any official or unofficial communication regarding calls or initiatives to participate in a dialogue within Sudan and stated that it had not participated in any related arrangements. The coalition emphasized that there is no military solution to Sudan’s crises and that it will not be “a party to any false solutions that reproduce the crisis or grant the war and its consequences political legitimacy.

In a statement issued today by its Executive Office, the coalition said, “Ending the war and addressing the humanitarian disaster are the ultimate goals and the first step of any political process, leading to sustainable peace and a democratic civilian transition. A political track separated from the security and humanitarian tracks is meaningless, and any call for dialogue that bypasses the priority of a ceasefire lacks credibility”.

It added that “any credible process must be independent of the dominance of any of the warring parties, and any call lacking this independence will perpetuate the reality and logic of war and will not bring about any peace in the country.” He described talk of dialogue within areas under army control as ignoring the realities on the ground, “as the country is experiencing an undeclared division, in which control over its territory is divided among numerous armed forces; therefore, this approach will lead to the entrenchment of the country’s division and the squandering of the unity of its territory and people”.

It affirmed that the National Congress Party, the Islamic Movement, and their proxies cannot be part of any dialogue aimed at achieving peace, stressing that the stance against this group is clear and unambiguous. It has no place in any political process, and they must not be rewarded for the crimes they have committed against the country.

The coalition affirmed that its position is clear on issues of justice and accountability for all: holding to account those who ignited the war, those who profited from it, and all those who committed crimes against innocent people, and handing over those wanted by the International Criminal Court; It reaffirmed its continued efforts to end the war, address the humanitarian catastrophe, and put an end to the suffering of the Sudanese people, with the aim of achieving a just and sustainable peace and a democratic civilian transition.
