Rhino: Follow-up – U.S. State Department spokesperson Tommy Bigot said that the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas are directing organizations that serve as fronts to transfer funds across different jurisdictions in order to support terrorism.
He added: “The United States has countered this threat by designating a high-ranking Egyptian official affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood residing in the United Kingdom, as well as three individuals and three entities—all residing outside Egypt—who have provided material support to Hamas.”
The action taken on Thursday, July 23, exposes organizations affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood and front organizations run by Hamas, which use charitable institutions as a cover and covert networks to conceal and transfer funds to support terrorism.
The U.S. Department of State reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling the financial infrastructure that supports Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood, as outlined in the U.S. counterterrorism strategy.
