Rhino: Agencies – Well-informed Sudanese sources announced the arrival of Iranian-made vacuum bombs and ammunition in Port Sudan, confirming that Iranian support networks and circles linked to the Islamic Movement continue to operate uninterrupted within the Port Sudan camp, amid calls for an international investigation to criminalize this military cooperation, particularly given the use of such munitions against civilian gatherings.
The sources emphasized that the discussion of Iranian-made vacuum bombs or munitions opens a door that goes beyond the nature of the weapons used to the nature of the shift in Port Sudan’s relationship with Tehran, noting that Iranian technical and military support has never ceased throughout the years of war, and that its connection to recent operations in Kordofan indicates Sudan’s entry into the regional rivalry over the Red Sea, which increases the sensitivity of Washington and its allies toward the course of the war.
The “Erm News” website quoted the sources as saying that the tightening of international pressure on Iran has pushed it to strengthen its influence in the Red Sea through military and technical cooperation with Islamist groups, specifically within Port Sudan, taking advantage of the ongoing war to achieve cross-border gains.
According to the website, these developments underscore the need to launch future investigations that trace the entire supply chain and route of these weapons—from their sources of production, through their transport routes and recipients, all the way to the party that used them—in order to ensure that responsibilities are identified and to prevent Sudan from becoming a regional conflict zone that benefits Iran and its proxies in the region.
