Rhino: Follow-up – “Sahih Al Sudan” news website reported, citing a medical source in the city of Al Damazin, that a cholera epidemic is spreading throughout the state, warning of a health disaster. The source said that cases have exceeded 3,000 in the past two weeks alone, with the epidemic spreading widely in areas of Damazin Governorate and the city of Rosaires, amid inadequate health services provided to patients.
The source predicted that if the authorities fail to declare a public health emergency in the region and continue to conceal the true figures on the spread of the disease, the epidemic will spread even faster than it is now due to environmental degradation, drinking water contamination, and a shortage of intravenous fluids.
