Sumoud alliance Condemns the Targeting of an Aid Convoy Heading to Tawila in North Darfur

Rhino: Follow-up – The Civil Democratic Coalition of Revolutionary Forces “Sumoud” condemned the targeting of a humanitarian aid shipment in North Darfur State that was en route to the Tawila locality, according to an announcement by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

The coalition added in a statement today: “Targeting or endangering humanitarian aid directly affects the situation of civilians and hinders the delivery of relief to the most vulnerable groups, at a time when humanitarian needs are increasing across Sudan.”

The statement called on the parties to the conflict to respect international humanitarian law, ensure the protection of civilians and humanitarian workers, and facilitate safe and unimpeded access for humanitarian aid.

The alliance urged the international community and regional and international organizations to continue supporting efforts to protect humanitarian work and to ensure accountability for any attacks targeting aid or humanitarian workers.
