Addis Ababa: Rhino – The Sudan Founding Coalition (Tasis) has unveiled its political vision for the coming phase, affirming its commitment to the project of building a new Sudanese state based on equal citizenship, secularism, and respect for human rights, while rejecting any participation by the Islamic Movement in future political settlement arrangements.
This announcement came during a press conference held by the coalition in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, attended by leadership council member Moulana Muhammad al-Mukhtar al-Nour and the coalition’s official spokesperson, Mr. Ahmed Takad, following the coalition’s receipt of an official invitation to participate in the consultative meetings regarding the Sudanese dialogue.
The speakers emphasized that the “Tasis” vision goes beyond the idea of reforming existing state institutions and is geared toward establishing a new state that meets the aspirations of the Sudanese people and puts an end to the structural crises that have plagued the country’s governance over the past decades.
The coalition clarified that its participation in the meetings convened by the Quintet Mechanism stems from its commitment to contributing to shaping a comprehensive political process that lays the groundwork for lasting peace and a stable political transition, noting that the consultative meetings aim to form a preparatory committee for the Sudanese dialogue and reach consensus on fundamental issues related to the country’s future.
The coalition’s leaders emphasized that any serious political process must begin by addressing the root causes of the Sudanese crisis and building a new system of governance that achieves justice and equality and guarantees the rights and freedoms of all citizens without discrimination.
The coalition also reaffirmed its opposition to the return of the Islamic Movement to the forefront of the political scene, asserting that the coming phase requires the establishment of a new political contract based on the principles of democracy, good governance, and the rule of law, thereby paving the way for the building of a stable state capable of accommodating Sudan’s diversity.
The Sudan Founding Coalition renewed its commitment to engaging in efforts aimed at ending the war and creating an environment conducive to a comprehensive political process, affirming that its project is based on a national vision aimed at building a new Sudan where peace, stability, development, and justice prevail.
