Emergency Lawyers Condemn Army’s Targeting of Civilians in Kadam Area Western Kordofan

Khartoum: Rhino – The Emergency Lawyers Group condemned the army’s targeting of civilians with a drone on the afternoon of May 30, 2026, in Kadam area in West Kordofan State, which resulted in the deaths of 10 people, including 8 children under the age of 10 and two women, in addition to injuring 4 civilians, including two women.

The victims had fled from the Abu Karshola area in South Kordofan State to Kadam in search of safety before being targeted at their displacement site, according to a statement released by the group on Sunday.

The statement condemned the attack and called for an end to the targeting of civilians in all populated areas, as well as for the expansion of the humanitarian response to include continuous monitoring of the conditions of displaced persons, with special priority given to children and women in relief, psychological, and health support, commensurate with the scale of the escalating humanitarian crisis.

The statement added: (The facts confirm that the attack took place in a civilian area where no military operations are taking place and where there are no military presence. This reflects the expansion of violence to include displacement zones, thereby perpetuating cycles of forced displacement and forcing civilians to move continuously without any real guarantee of safety, amid the erosion of effective protection for civilians).
