69 Civilians Killed and Injured as Army Targets Ghibish Market in West Kordofan with Drones

West Kordofan: Rhino – This morning, army drones targeted the market in the city of Ghibish in West Kordofan State, killing 28 civilians and wounding 41 others, including women and children, in addition to destroying a large part of the market and damaging numerous civilian facilities and citizens’ property.

The Sudan Founding Coalition condemned the attack, criticizing in a statement what it described as the behavior of the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist group’s authority in Port Sudan, which has pursued a policy of targeting civilians, markets, gatherings of people, civilian infrastructure, and public facilities using drones, which has led to the killing and displacement of civilians, exacerbated their humanitarian conditions, and increased their suffering, noting that the city of Ghibish is located far from combat zones and front lines.

The Coalition added in its statement: “This behavior, along with the systematic targeting of civilians and their use as tools of war by the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist group’s authority in Port Sudan, constitutes a flagrant violation of the rules of international humanitarian law and the rules of engagement, particularly the principle of distinguishing between military targets and civilian objects.”
