The Regional Council of TASIS Government Holds Its First Session in Nyala, South Darfur

Nyala: Rhino – The Regional Council of the Legislative Assembly of the “Tasis” government held its first session in the city of Nyala yesterday, Monday, following the swearing-in of council members, in a move aimed at completing the new governance structures.

Al-Tasis Alliance Presidential Council member Al-Tahir Hajar announced the launch of the Regional Council’s first session after the resolution was officially handed over to the Council’s president, calling on members to shoulder their responsibilities during the coming phase.

For his part, Regional Council President Arno Nkotlo Lodi Aper said that taking the oath “is not merely a constitutional procedure, but a declaration of a new phase in building the institutions of the government of peace and establishing democratic decentralized governance.”

He added that the coalition is committed to implementing the constitution “to save the Sudanese people at this stage,” noting that the current legislative session differs from previous ones, as it marks—for the first time—the devolution of political, administrative, financial, and legal powers to lower levels.

The Council of Regions in the Constituent Assembly comprises 24 members representing eight regions, with three representatives from each region.
