Oil Minister in Tasis Government Threatens to Halt Exports Following Army Attack on Heglig Road

Khartoum: Rhino – The oil minister in Tasis government, Al-Basha Tibaig, announced that one worker was killed and two others were injured in an attack targeting maintenance work on (Heglig – Kilik) road in Al-Kharsana area on Sunday.

Tibaig said in a Facebook post: “The terrorist Islamic Movement’s army targeted maintenance work on (Heglig – Kilik)road in Al-Kharsana area of West Kordofan State today, Sunday, April 26, 2026, resulting in the death of one worker and the injury of two others.”

He added: “This attack represents a dangerous development that cannot be ignored, and it presents us with a fateful choice: to halt oil production and exports if these criminal acts do not cease immediately.” The message sent by this behavior is clear to the Government of South Sudan, which understands that the continued production and export of oil from the Heglig fields is in its strategic interest. Accordingly, we affirm that the continuation of these crimes will inevitably lead to a halt in production, a decision we will not hesitate to take in defense of our security, sovereignty, and the safety of our citizens”.
